Salmeterol Xinafoate

Salmeterol xinafoate is a selective, long-acting beta2-adrenergic receptor agonist (LABA). It acts locally in the lung as a bronchodilator to relax bronchial smooth muscles and improve airflow, with a duration of action lasting approximately 12 hours. It is used for long-term control and is not a rescue medication; it should not be used to treat acute asthma attacks.

Dosage by Body Weight

The standard dose for adults and children 4 years of age and older is 50 mcg (1 inhalation) twice daily, approximately 12 hours apart. For asthma management, it must always be used in combination with an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS). It is not recommended for children under 4 years of age.
